Reapers Rake in 5 Top-3s at Tremont
A handful of Reapers travelled to the Tremont Triathlon on Saturday and brought back plenty of hardware.
Five of the six Reapers, who competed recorded Top 3 finishes, led by Lisa Kiley and Curtis Preston. Lisa captured the club’s lone first-place age group finish, putting up a time of 1:24.37. Curtis, competing in the largest Age Group of the event, placed 2nd in 35-39 out of 20 competitors with a time of 1:11:20. It must be pointed out that Coach Erik Rankin’s much harped upon transition times were key for Curtis; he was 3rd, 4th and 4th in swim, bike and run, but had the best times for T1 and T2, picking up 49 seconds on the 3rd-place finisher.
Also garnering Top-3 finishes were: Kevin Callis with a 3rd in 50-54AG at 1:27:18; Rhonda Heinz with a 2nd in 45-49 at 1:37:04; and Bev Smith with a 3rd in 50-54 at 1:39:43.
Another 1st Place at Rev3
Reapers Kelly Ruiter and David Ford once again teamed up with Steve Barcus at a Rev3 event…the result was the same. The trio won the Rev3 Dells Half Rev in Wisconsin on Saturday with a time of 5:14:46. In April, they took 1st at the Rev3 Knoxville Half Rev in 5:12:49.
Keller 5th at Jubilee Challenge
Reaper Tom Keller finished 5th overall and 3rd in his age group at a muddy Jubilee Challenge Cat3 race on Sunday. The Jubilee Challenge is part of the eleven race Illinois State Championship Series that Keller is focusing on this season.
