
Reaper win 6 top finisher medals at Litchfield
Six Reapers travelled to the Litchfield (IL) Triathlou Sunday and all six brought home top finisher medals.
Lisa Becharas and Bryan Heppe led the way. Lisa, competing in her first Olympic distance race, won the women’s overall title with a 2:23:31. Lisa was 15 seconds down heading into the run leg, but ran a 6:46 pace for a 41:58 run time to easily out distance her competitors.
Bryan had a solid all-around race, finishing in 2:20:27 to win the 35-39 Age Group and also placed 4th overall.
Matt Cuttell posted GRF’s other 1st-place finish, winning the 30-34 AG in 2:24:00. Also, placing in age groups were Damon Dusin, who was 2nd to Bryan in 35-39 at 2:27:37, and Tim Auth, who had a PR in placing 3rd in 45-49.
Erik Rankin was the lone Reaper to participate in the sprint even. Erik was 3rd in 35-39 with a time of 1:21:58.
Celeste Kudrys qualifies for Boston Marathon
Celeste Kudrys exceeded her goal times, placed 2nd in her Age Group, and preliminarily qualified for the 2015 Boston Marathon at the Last Chance Marathon in Geneva, IL, Saturday.
Celeste had set a goal 3:34:59 while the expected qualification time for Boston was 3:40. She ended up running an 8:04 pace to finish at 3:31:10. The time was good for 2nd of 9 competitors in the 35-39 Age Group.
Coach Dave Quinn paced Celeste the entire race.
The 2015 Boston Marathon will take place Monday, April 20.
A Weekend of Racing for Ford and Keller
David Ford and Tom Keller doubled up this weekend, racing at the Kickapoo Fat Tire Festival Race on Saturday and the Patriot Cyclocross at Rantoul on Sunday.
At Kickapoo, David was 2nd in Cat 3 (beginner), while Tom finished 4th.
At Rantoul, David finished 2nd in Cat 5 .while Tom second in a Cat 4/5 race and 3rd in a Cat 4 race.
