Finally, Romanie Walter got to compete in her first Ironman race.
Romanie had been set to compete at Ironman Tahoe on Sept. 21, but the California wildfires forced the cancellation of the event on race morning.
Due to the circumstances, Romanie was able to enter Ironman Chatanooga and completed that race Sunday. Romanie was 41st of 124 athletes in the 35-39 Age Group with a finishing time of 12:21:39. Her time was good for 210th among 700+ female entrants.
Romanie’s best leg was the swim, which she completed in 54:41 – a 1:24 pace. The swim course was quick as athletes swim the entire 2.4 miles with the current. Romanie’s time was 34th in her age division and 144th.
On the bike, Romanie came in at 6:46:31 before finishing up with a 4:18:02 run leg. Her run was 41st in AG.
