
Lisa Becharas of Bloomington-based Grim Reaper Fitness has been recognized as an All American by USA Triathlon (USAT) for the 2014 season.
Becharas, competing in her first triathlon season, is ranked 1st in the state of Illinois in the 24-29 Age Group and 3rd in the five-state USAT Mideast Region. An assistant track coach at Illinois Wesleyan, Becharas didn’t begin racing until mid-season, but won the overall women’s titles at the Iron Abe Sprint Triathlon in Springfield, IL, and the Litchfiled (IL) Olympic Triathlou. She also placed 1st in her age group at Ironman 70.3Steelhead in Benton Harbor, MI, and the Chicago Triathlon Sprint.
Becharas is coached by Erik Rankin of Grim Reaper Fitness.
“Lisa had a remarkable first season in triathlon,” said Rankin, who is also the founder of Grim Reaper Fitness. “She is still learning how to train, how to race at the different distances. To immediately start winning races is a testament to her talent and competitive drive. She has a bright future as a triathlete.”
Becharas is a graduate of DePauw University where she competed in cross country and track and field, winning all-conference honors in 2010.
