
INDIANAPOLIS – Bryan Heppe and Jason Sturdyvin both set PRs to finish in the top 35 at the Tri Indy Olympic-distance triathlon Sunday, while Stephanie Heppe posted a PR and Kelly Ruiter completed her first Olympic race.
Bryan Heppe finished 3rd in the 35-39 Age Group, good for 29th overall, in 2:16:51, including a strong 1:02:35 (23.8 mph average) bike leg on a bumpy course with some challenging turns that runs through White River Valley State Park and downtown Indianapolis. Sturdyvin was 4th in 30-34, which placed him 33rd overall, with a finishing time of 2:19:20. Sturdyvin also put up a strong bike leg, posting a 1:03:16 (23.6 mph).
Ruiter finished her first Olympic in 2:53:58, including a 1:12:05 bike leg (20.7 mph). Finally, Stephanie Heppe chopped 30 minutes off her previous Olympic, finishing in 3:22:57. Like her teammates, her strongest leg was the bike, finishing in 1:20:55 (18.4 mph).
