
David Cate took 3rd in the Clydesdale division at the Chicago Triathlon, and Jason Huber was 4th overall at the inaugural Peoria Triathlon to highlight Sunday’s action for Grim Reaper Fitness.
Cate competed in the sprint race at Chicago, which consisted of a 750-meter swim, 15-mile bike, and 5K run. He posted a time of 1:44:20 to place 3rd in the 39-and-under Clydesdale division.
Huber was 4th overall at the Peoria race, which included a 400-yard swim, 11-mile bike, and 3-mile run. His time of 53:29 was good for 2nd in the 35-39 age group. He posted splits of 6:11 in the swim, 26:13 for a 25.2 mph average in the bike, and 19:31 for a 6:31 pace on the run.
Back at Chicago, Kris Hohulin was 9th in the women’s 40-49 division of the Super Sprint. In the sprint, Wendy Smith was 14th in 40-44 at 1:44:09, while Erik Rankin was 20th in men’s 35-39 at 1:29:39.
In the Olympic, Tim Auth set a PR finishing at 2:34:45, while Buck Manley completed his first Oly in 3:07:36.
In Peoria, Carey Weaver won the 55-59 Age Group and was 12th overall at 57:17. Chris Braun won the 19-and-under division at 1:00:19.
Grim Reaper Fitness’s next big race day is Sept. 12 when the club travels to Innsbrook, MO, for USAT Club Nationals.
