Kris Hohulin was the 3rd overall female, while Rebecca Mitchell and Nancy Braun won their age groups at Racemaker Productions’ Try Tri Sunday in Edwardsville.
Hohulin was 3rd female in the Super Sprint – 150-yard swim, 10-mile bike, 2-mile run – posting an overall time of 54:12.30. Her bike time of 30:34 (19.6 mph) was the second fastest among women.
Braun won her age group for the first time, taking 50-54 in 1:00.40. Her bike time of 32:32 (18.4 mpg) was fourth best among women.
Mitchell and John Bassett completed in the long sprint (300-yard swim, 20-mile bike, 4-mile run), with Mitchell winning 45-49 and Bassett taking second in 40-44. Mitchell finished in 1:49:09, posting the best run in her age group by nearly two minutes at 33:49. Bassett posted a 1:35:10.
Meanwhile, in New Orleans, Tony Kerr completed Ironman 70.3 New Orleans in 7:15:25, good for a personal best by 21 minutes.
