
PETERSBURG – Wendy Smith, Lily Matthews, Emily Barr and Jori Cooper won their divisions as Grim Reaper Fitness kicked off the race season at the Pioneer Sprint and Saturday.
In the Abe’s Mini Tri, which preceded Pioneer, Lisa Kiley was top female, while Curtis Preston and Jill Dorbeck won their divisions.
Pioneer consisted of a 300-yard pool swim, 13-mile bike, and 3.1 mile run, while the Mini included a 100-yard swim, 5-mile bike, and 1-mile run.
Smith won the 40-44 division with a time of 1:20:48, while Matthews took the 15-19 age group in 1:35:09. Barr, competing in her first triathlon, won women’s 60-64 in 1:54:23. Cooper took 1st in the Athena Division.
Kevin Tuuk and Tim Auth posted the club’s fastest times of the day. Tuuk was 10th overall and 2nd in 40-44 at 1:05:54, while Auth finished 14th overall and 4th in 45-49 at 1:07:38.
Other top finishes included: Jessica Miner (2nd in 35-39 at 1:19:35); Mike Seeborg (2nd in 65-69 at 1:20:48); Jodi Hari (3rd in 45-49 at 1:25:13); Kim Tegg (3rd in 55-59 at 1:31:52); Riley Cate (3rd in under-15 at 1:46:59); and David Cate (3rd in Clydesdale).
In the Mini, Preston was 5th overall and 1st in 40-44 at 26:15. Kiley won the women’s division at 27:30, while Jill Dorbeck won 40-44 in 29:31. Pinkie Roffers, competing in her first GRF race, placed 3rd in Athena at 34:34.
