
CHAMPAIGN – Jason Sturdyvin, Brian Bederka, and Yvonne Fahringer medaled to lead a large group of Reapers at Tri the Illini Sunday.
Sturdyvin, Bederka, and Fahringer all finished in the top-3 of their age groups in the event, which featured a 300-meter swim, 14.5-mile bike and 3.1-mile run, while four others finished the dreaded 4th in their division, one spot out of medal position.

Sturdyvin had the top GRF time of the day, completing the course in 1:08:27 to take 2nd in men’s 30-34. Bederka was 3rd in 40-44 at 1:16:27, while Fahringer was 3rd in women’s 60-64 at 1:34:23.
Kara Warren, Curtis Preston, Louis Green, and Jessica Miner all posted 4th-place finishes; Warren put up the best time, finishing at 1:18:34.
In the collegiate division, Brianna Zoschke and Holly Tompkins of the GRF-sponsored Illinois State University Tri-Birds finished 4th and 5th, respectively, among women. Nate Fillers had the best performance among the men, placing 7th.
