
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Jason Sturdyvin led a large contingent of Reapers at Michigan Titanium finishing 3rd in the men’s full Aquabike race.
The Titanium event consists of Olympic, 70.3, and 140.6 distances in the triathlon, aquabike, and duathlon distances.
In the full aquabike, which consists of a 2.4 mile swim and 112-mile bike, Sturdyvin completed the course in 5:35:38 to take 3rd place in the men’s division and 4th overall. He finished the bike leg with an impressive 19.8 mph average speed on a tough, hilly course.
GRF had two racers competing in the 70.3 distance. Jay McGee finished 8th in the 30-34 age group with a time of 5:22:57, highlighted by an 8:19 pace on the 13.1-mile run. Glenn Tuuk as 14th in 45-49 with a time of 6:12:09. Tuuk, coming off early summer knee surgery, poasted a 19.34 average speed on the bike.
Christine Kachelmuss and Julie Zei represented GRF in the Olympic triathlon. Kachelmuss was 3rd in 30-34 and 12th overall at 2:57:48, while Zei finished 6h in 30-34 at 3:15:06.
Tim Auth, David Cate, and Ben Matthews finished the Olympic aquabike in 1:55:09, 1:59:38, and 2:11:59, respectively.
In the Olympic duathlon, Adam Pool and Racheal Chiolero posted the best performances. Pool was the 12th male finisher at 2:18:51, while Chiolero was 6th female at 2:24:15. Chris Cunningham, Jason Hebel, and Jeffrey MacCarther finished in 2:31:05, 2:35:55, and 2:52:30, respectively.
CLINTON, IL – Michael Braun finished 4th overall and 1st in the 20-24 age group at the Clinton Lake Sprint Triathlon.
Braun finished the course in 1:10:11. His swim time of 4:56 on the 400-yard course was the days 2nd fastest, while his 7:07 run pace in the 5k was 3rd best.
MONT-TREMBLANT, QUEBEC – Also on Sunday, Paula Rawlings completed the Ironman Mont-Tremblant race in 16:06:28. She finished the 2.4-mile swim in 1:23:07, the 112-mile bike in 8:11:35, and the 26-mile run in 6:11:45.
