
Jay McGee and Erin Weizeorick completed their first Ironman distance races, while Laurie Bederka and Julie Sibley each finished a 70.3 event Sunday.
McGee, competing in Ironman Wisconsin at Madison, finished in 11:54:21 on a day where cooler temperatures and wind were a factor. He finished 377th overall out of over 1800 racers. His best event within his age group was his time of 1:12:48 in the swim, 38th in the male 35-39 age group, which consisted of 210 competitors. Overall, he was 63rd in the division.
Weizeorick, also racing at Madison, was 19th in the women’s 18-24 division as she finished in 16:31:12. Her best event was the swim, which she completed in 1:29:39 to take 15th in her division.
At Lake Placid, NY, also in much cooler conditions, Bederka (7:13:47) and Sibley (7:31:43) finished 58th and 73rd of 85 in the women’s 40-44 division of Lake Placid 70.3.
On a smaller scale, husband-and-wife tandem Ami Hileman and Dan Wolfe took 2nd and 3rd place in their respective age groups in the sprint race at the Litchfield Triathlou. Hileman was 2nd in 55-59 at 1:32:31, 10 seconds behind the winner. Wolfe was 3rd in men’s 55-59 at 1:25:33.
