
GRF’s Lauri Meins completed her 2nd Ironman race and Annie McGee placed 3rd in her age group at the Whiskeydaddle half marathon Sunday.
Meins, raced at Ironman Louisville, finishing the event in 13:32:56. The 2.4-mile swim was cancelled due to unsafe levels of algal toxins in the Ohio River, but Meins completed the 112-mile bike leg in 7:45:38 and the 26-mile run in 5:40:06.
In Peoria, McGee posted a time of 1:47:59 in the Whiskeydaddle half marathon, to finish 3rd of 54 racers in the 35-39 age group, and 18th of 342 female racers. She was paced by husband Jay McGee and brother-in-law Jason Sturdyvin. The three crossed the line together at 1:47:59, Sturdyvin getting the nod for 12th in men’s 35-39 and McGee 13th in the same divison.
Also competing were: Catherine Sturdyvin, 2:02:50; Jessica Miner, 2:09:25; Christine Kachelmuss, 2:10:38; Chris Cunningham, 2:21:27; and Jori Cooper, 2:37:03.
