
TULSA – Grim Reaper Fitness’s Michael Braun completed his first Ironman distance race, placing 12th in his age group Sunday at Ironman Tulsa.
The race consisted of a 2.4-mile swim in Keystone Lake, a reservoir in the Arkansas River, a 112-mile bike leg on a hilly course, and a flat, 26-mile run.

Braun completed the event in 10 hours, 41 minutes, 57 seconds, to place 14th in the men’s 25-29 age group our of 110 competitors. He completed the swim in 1:03:17. The bike was his best event relative to the rest of his age group as his time of 5:27:41 was 8th-best in the division and good for a pace of 20.5 mph. He finished his day with a time of 3:55:57 in the run.
Braun races with former Illinois State University Tri-Bird and Grim Reaper Fitness teammate Lauren Kingsley, who was 15th in the women’s 25-29 division with a time of 14:21:01.
The winner of the age group finished in 9:04:33, while the professional winner came in at 7:45:22.

Greg Dietz completed his first Olympic-distance triathlon (.9 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) at the 370 Lakeside Triathlon in St. Peters, MO. Dietz complete the race in 2:48:24.
