HUDSON – Michael Braun is rolling. The Grim Reaper Fitness athlete was the overall champion at the Tri-Shark Duathlon here Saturday, finishing atop a field of over 200 racers.
Braun was the overall winner at the Pioneer Sprint last month, just two weeks before placing 12th in his age group at Ironman Tulsa. With Tri-Shark limited to a duathlon format this year (2-mile run, 13-mile bike, 3-mile run), Braun posted an overall time of 1:06:09, more than 2 minutes ahead of the 2nd-place finisher. As the morning got hot, he posted an 18:44 on the closing 3-mile run, the fastest of the field.
Greg Dietz had the next best time of the other participating Reapers, but was the day’s hard-luck racer. Dietz finished 20th overall with a time of 1:20:17, but that was good only for 11th in the stacked men’s 40-49 division.
Other GRF finishers included: Brian Spaulding at 1:25:52 for 9th in 50-59; Matt Lawson at 1:27:12 for 19th in 40-49; Christine Kachlemuss at 1:31:52 for 6th in 30-39; Tim Auth at 1:33:51 for 11th in 50-59; Racheal Chiolero at 1:41:32 for 3rd in 40-49; and Laurie Bederka at 1:41:34 for 4th in 40-49.
