
HUDSON – Michael Braun finished 2nd overall at Saturday’s Tri-Shark Triathlon, while six other Reapers took home hardware.
Braun, who finished in 1:01:50, was in a dead heat with winner Connor Oats coming out of the second transition, but Oats ran a 16:59 on the 3.1-mile run, while Braun posted an 18:48. Braun won the 2021 event, which was limited to the run-bike-run duathlon format.
Jason Sturdyvin, Greg Dietz, and Christine Kachelmuss all took home 3rd-place finishes. Sturdyvin was 14th overall and 3rd in 35-39, finishing in 1:10:41; Dietz was 16th overall and 3rd in 40-44, finishing in 1:11:15; and Kachelmuss was 3rd in 30-34 at 1:25:55. Julie Howell finished 2nd in 45-49 with a time of 1:32:08.
Finally, Tim Auth (swim) and Matt Lawson (bike/run) teamed up to win the relay in a time of 1:15:29.
Other Reaper finishers included: Laura Becher, 6th in 40-44 at 1:29:59; Laurie Bederka, 5th in 45-49 at 1:43:56; Nancy Braun, 7th in 55-59 at 1:49:18; and Tiffany Smith, the club’s only duathlon competitor, finished in 2:20:34.
